A Dreamer and
a Do-er!
Dorje proclaims he is a self-motivated, workaholic who loves talking to people.
Dorje was born in Kavre, in a small village, where he spent much of his childhood helping his grandfather with farming and tending to animals. Daring to dream of a different future, Dorje left his village at the young age of 11, looking for work opportunities in Kathmandu, which eventually led him to Pokhara. He entered the service industry early on, and was exposed to all the trials and tribulations of the hospitality sector.
First day of the covid-lockdown, Dorje and his restaurant Moondance in lake side, served food for eight days to the stranded tourists in Pokhara.
Dorje, a well-traveled man, a people-person, believes in empowering the community.
He really enjoys his work and finds satisfaction in bringing a smile to those he meets and his clients.
Moondance Restaurant
He made his mark with his first venture, Moondance, which was a small space he opened in 1991 in Lakeside that served continental food to tourists. Over the years, this place has become popular amongst tourists, trekkers and diplomats and continues to be a flourishing business today.
As he became successful with Moondance, he also started his own farm, in Sedi, to grow organic vegetables that were supplied to the restaurant.
